HI Everyone. I have a question. I had bought some Naltrexone a while back that has been sitting in my medicine cabinet. I finally decided to take it and was wondering if its normal to feel a little loopy and flushed after taking it. Could that have anything to do with blood pressure? Does it affect blood pressure?? Also, I know its recommended to take its 30 min to an hour before but I took it 2 hours before I had a drink last night and it worked but it didn't. I definitely felt less drunk but it was a strange feeling. When I first got it I took it 30 min before and it looked fine but I dont remember feeling loopy and flushed. I checked the expiration date and its good through the middle of 2014. Did I take it too soon and it was already wearing off??? How long does it stay in the system and work??

Thanks

Amy

Amy,

It's quite common to feel a bit out if it, spacy and tired when first starting nal. Many folks start with a reduced dose (say 25mg) and work their way up. For many the side effects go away after a week or so.

Also, the rule is to take nal at least an hour before drinking. Two hours is also OK. After six or eight hours many people go for another dose.

Check out this thread:

Yep, i felt flushed and loopy right before the hallucinations. ;)

Sounds like you tolerate it pretty well.

Hi Sideeffects. Good to know thats a normal response to Nal. I was a little worried for a moment and wonder if I was going to have to stop taking it. LOL

sideeffect2, what kind of hallucinations did you have? I'm just curious.

I have not had hallucination, more of a feeling as though I was observing what was going on as if I was outside my own body. LOL it was really weird to say the least!  Even stranger I havent had the desire to drink today and it 7:30pm. Im usually well on my way by now.

Heh, click on the link in my last post for the full rundown.

It started as tunnel vision, followed by blindness, then vision returned, but like a monitor that had lost 80% of its pixels. I could make out outlines of things, but not details.
