Do I need to take Nal if I am planning to drink non-alcoholic beer? since it has 0.05% alcohol?

its pretty important to know last week I didn't drink for 3 days but I had non-alcoholic beers and didn't take my Nal.

I don't remember how to show my progress but:
I am down to 3-4 drinks a night I started on 04/07/2013 average 5-6 daily doesn't seem that much but I feel the progress

I don't get drunk or high on the alcohol but still use it to fall asleep thou, I have been an alcoholic for over 12 years so I know it will take a little longer but I def have had progress and I am very happy I can safely say that I am not gonna get drunk or drink too much with confidence (as long as I take my Nal) thank you everyone!!

I probably would take it if it were me. Simply because I could see the NA leading to the real thing. Accidentally.

Yes, I would too, for the reason you gave as well as the apparent action of Nal on the brain. I'm not a scientist, but after having read Dr Eskapa's book, lots of stuff on this forum, et cetera, my understanding of chemical/pharmaceutical extinction is that taking Nal an hour before boozing gradually 'disintegrates' that neural pathway in the brain that was built up by repetitive intake of alcohol. Booze affects the opiate (opioid?) receptors in the brain, but I wonder if the phychological and chemical link we have wouldn't also be lit up (so to speak, pun partially intended ;)) by a NA beer and trigger those receptors. Does that make any sense? An NA beer creates no alcohol high, but maybe subconsciously it's just near enough to strengthen that old pathway.

My semi-informed armchair response. :D

All the best to you both,

Xanthippe

NA beer can reinforce a behaviour, which could lead to drinking full alcohol beer. I'd either not bother with the NA, or take a nal 1 hour prior.
