Good afternoon. In my first round with 25mg Naltrexone, I had a pronounced experirence of sleepiness and a zoned-out experience that was not at all pleasant. Last night, I took another 25mg with my secret "warm up" 2 shots of vodka in the closet. Ugg. Basically, I got none of the good effects of alcohol (no "high," no euphoria) and exaggerated negative effects (I felt super tired and just wanted to sober up as quickly as possible). I later had a 1/2 glass of red wine with my wife and went to bed. I never had nausea, nor did I feel bad in the morning. My question is, since tonight will be the third night, shouldn't I just stick to 25mg since I'm obviously sensitive to Nal, or should I continue with "the program" and up my dose to 50mg? I'd prefer 25mg because it will make my pills last twice as long. I'm 155 pounds, 5'9", if that matters. Thanks.

Well, I guess I answered my own question last night. I took 25mg, waited exactly an hour, and had my two shots of vodka about ten minutes apart. Then, BAM!, I had some serious euphoria and the Jeckyl/Hyde feeling in which I think, "I need lots more of these!" I also felt as though I had downed at least six drinks, so all of the effects (good and bad) were heightened. I remembered Andy's long story and decided to take the other half of the pill (which he would do when he got that crazy alcoholic desire). I did this, had a beer before dinner, and then that was it. I actually had to run up to the grocery store to get some cat food or something -- this is a big trigger for me because that's when I'd always run quick into the liquor store and get some more vodka. Not only did I easily pass the liquor store with zero temptation, I actually thought, "You couldn't pay me to have another drink right now." I honestly just wanted to sober up and get it all out of my system.

An aside regarding the issue of Naltrexone and sex...my wife and I had "relations" and I had the weirdest orgasm I've ever had. Neither better nor worse, but freakily weird. I remember there being a question about this on another post with some people experiencing that. Besides alcohol, I'm also an expert in having orgasms, so I know what I'm talking about!
