I've noticed over the 18 months I've followed TSM that the amount I need to drink to have a hangover, or be sick has reduced massively and is now getting even lower.

Does anyone know why this is?

Example;

Pre-TSM would drink 20-30 units and 20+ units would render me 'sick' the next day
6 months in cravings gone, drinking 15+units would give me the same effect the next day
Hardly drank during months 9-14 due to circumstances
15 months and drinking 12 units would make me sick the next day
17 months 10 units made me sick the next day
18 months and 5.5 units has made me queasy (but not physically sick although I think it wouldn't have taken much more to have that result) the following day.

I only drink once or twice a week and this is having the effect of making me actively reduce my intake on those sessions, I see this as a positive since I really don't and never liked drinking alcohol so don't mind if I end up going AF.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Admittedly I am a true "lightweight" when it comes to alcohol but yes I have experienced something similar. When I started tsm, I might get a nalover after 5 units, then it was 3 units. The last time I had a nalover and felt queezy, I had one lousy glass of wine (but not much to eat with it).

Hi UK Blonde, I can't speak from a very scientific perspective as this has just recently happened to me. Last Sunday I took 25mg's of Nal an hour before a solid meal and drank a 9 oz glass of wine followed by another 3 oz's and went to bed feeling pretty sloshed. When I woke up around 5 am I felt very ill. I'm not sure if it was the fact that I had gone 8 days AF prior to this incident, the fact that I may have been dehydrated (drank 32 oz of water after waking), or like you said, a new found intolerance to the Nal. I plan on another week AF and then trying a cocktail and glass of wine after 12.5 mg an hour or so beforehand. We'll see what happens. Keek

Folks, let's not forget that alcohol in its pure form, is POISONOUS! Our culture/civilization has mastered the art of diluting it, watering it down to "acceptable levels". But even those, if we have enough of them, which most alcoholics do in a typical drinking session, make us sick --poison us.

Just wanted to report that since my last post I have found I don't want to risk the headache and nausea, and have been able to cut down further without any struggle at all. Had just 4 units (175ml glass wine and a bottle of grog labelled as 2 units) whilst socialising at the weekend. I didn't race because I didn't want the hangover, and found as I drank slowly I didn't want any more. It wasn't firing me up one bit.

Yes, the fear of a nalover certainly helps up one's willpower to control consumption. Slowing your pace. Making sure you are hydrated and eating while drinking all help. Glad you continue to make progress!
