Hi Everyone,

So I have been going at this for 5 weeks now and it's been amazing. I've had few ups and downs but overall my cravings are WAY down and most of the time I find myself drinking more to continue the treatment than because I really really feel the need to drink.

Anyhow, I've always been a bit confused as to how much to take when I'm in an extended drinking session situation. For instance, I was in Vegas a couple weeks ago and was basically drinking for 3 days straight. I just sorta popped one every 8 hours or so.. but that's a real self prescribed method I guess you can say.

Went to a brewery for lunch today so of course knew I was going to have a couple beers (which, by the way, I didn't even finish my 2nd beer which is pretty much a first for me!!). Anyhow, I took one at 1pm, which was one hour before I arrived at the brewery. I brought home a growler of beer and now want to have a glass or two but it's now been 7 1/2 hours since I took the NAL. Take another just for a couple brews???

Please advise.

seems to me that 8 hours is really safe, as the recommended time to be covered by a dose is 10 hours.
you might want to search other threads, but i think this is right.

50 mg per day is the standard protocol for using NAL to address drinking issues. It's also the amount used in most, if not all, of the studies. It's the standard dosage meant to last 24 hours. In Eskapa's book the wash-out period mentioned is 48 hours; not sure of NAL's half life. In conclusion, I'd stick with 50 mg per day, which should cover you. All IMHO.

Thanks for the replies! I did read the entire book too but wasn't able to tell for sure.. Hmm I'm gonna say it's probably ok to take 50mg for the whole day unless you're drinkin' "Vegas style"..

Personally, If I took the Nal at noon and didn't drink again til night time, I'd take another Nal with the drinks at night time. I wouldn't wait an hour, but I would take it because sometimes I end up drinking to ~3 or so in the morning, and I don't be fully sober til 5pm that next day. Just my protocol- I need certainty!

I read somewhere on this site (I think someone was quoting Dr. Sinclair) that nal covers 8-10 hours. Given my brain burps I could have dreamed this but I started to follow this self-made protocol nevertheless. I use the 8-hour rule if I'm drinking for an extended period. It's only happened 3 times since I started using nal on Sept 10. I know for sure I read you typically don't have "overdose" type side effects until you get to 300 mg per day so I figure I'm safe.
