I hope to begin this week. Have battled depression, anxiety for many years and was on lexapro (successfully) for a few years, then stopped because I lost my insurance for awhile and couldn't spare the $. Anyway, I just started the lexapro within the past few days. Does anyone know if there are any bad interactions between lexapro and nal?

Intake: 35 wk.

You may want to look in to this. On this page a doctor mentions
using naltrexone in situations where patients have become
unresponsive to SSRIs:

Especially the bit about the patient who became hypomanic. I'd be
careful with this one if I were you. Note that there is also
baclofen, which works well though in a different way, this drug may
be better from an interaction standpoint.

Doctors prescribe Naltrexone with anti-depressants pretty regularly in non-TSM treatments. SSRI, SNRI, SNDRI, etc. Do a little Googling and check with your doctor about interaction. My wife (14 weeks TSM) takes a SNRI and SNDRI with good results. Welcome to the forum.

hi rock, glad you found us and you're going to try TSM. I'm not familiar with lexapro but my husband is on Seroquel (which is an anti-depressant and pretty strong at that) and our doctor said nothing about putting him on Nal, so I can't really say other than please research the interaction between the two better to play safe than sorry.

Keep posting with all your questions

Don't know about Lexapro but I'm on Prozac and nal with doctor's supervision and it's a non-issue. This is a good question for an MD.

Thanks for the advice.

Was upfront with the psychiatrist about what I wanted to do. Without hesitation, he said that he would let me try it out. Dr. did not express concern re: lexapro. Actually started to ramp up yesterday with 25mg, and I'm going to good to go on another 25 today.

Heh. I myself was shocked with how supportive the medical community was once I fessed up. Shocked in a very good way.

Times seem to be changing -- thank God. Check out the posts from May 2009. Almost NO ONE received support from their doctors regarding naltrexone in general and TSM in particular. The medical community appears to be coming out of its deep sleep.

Yes, it's about time! It has always amazed me how these smart people (doctors) resigned themselves to the hocus-pocus mentality and ignored their science backgrounds when dealing with this subject. Good luck Rock.
