Has anyone had problems with hot flashes? I'm inclined to think it is a blood pressure issue. They just started a few days ago. Always an ear, then that side of the face. Eventually to my chest.
I have very low BP normally. I take meds for ADHD and never a change in BP until a bad AL binge in June (had stopped ADD meds weeks before) and ended up in detox. They told me they actually had to give me meds to get my BP down. That was a shock. Right back to my normal, low BP ever since. But it makes me wonder about what's happening now.
Nothing unusual about my drinking, other than I'm more ashamed of it than ever (fighting with husband a lot), so maybe more nervous when I do? No binging. A lot of stress, but the hot flashes seem totally random. I'm an otherwise healthy 37 yo female. Would go to doc, but tell the truth and we all know what i'll get. Stop drinking and you'll be fine.

After starting TSM, Some of us had what we called "the sweats", particularly when waking up in the middle of the night. That side effect goes away after a while.

If that is not what you are experiencing, there is another effect I get from one of my non-Benzo anti-anxiety drugs (Buspar). I can no longer take 15mg of it at a single dose and not experience a hot flash. Although, mine is more body centered, than face centered. I now take 10 mg at a time, but I still feel a wave of warmth shortly after I take it. I've tried to make sense of this effect, since I don't drink very often anymore, thus my Naltrexone use is way down. Why am I still reacting to the Buspar in this different way?

I don't know if this experience is helpful to you, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Bob

Yes I definitely had weird sweats after starting on Nal...it also left a very strong taste in my mouth, and smell on my skin (rather metallic). I don't get the taste anymore but I still get the skin-thing. This is a potent medication imho.

Are 'hot flashes' what we would call 'flushes' in the UK?

Anyway tbh, hope it clears up for you really soon :) How about going to the doc and not mentioning the drinking? At least then, if it might be due to anything else, it'll be investigated, and hopefully your mind will be put at rest.

I don't mean to hijack but, when I was like 18 I was a pill popper for while (vicodin and oxycontin) and it used to leave a strange chemical/metallic smell on my skin. Synthetic opioid agonists (like pain pills) and naltrexone a very similar in structure. Naltrexone is only slightly different in that it resembles opioids close enough to bind to the receptor but not close enough to stimulate it.

I had the night sweats and hot flashes with pain pills, though not with naltrexone.

I've been on ldn for about 2 months so far and I always feel a weird warm flash in my body about 5-10 mins after taking it. It doesnt really bother me and I have gotten used to it now. The only thing I could compare it to was the feeling I used to get after taking vicodin after my hand surgery years ago.

I have not had any side effects so far aside from the occasional headache.
