agreed. at this point in your TSM experience, drinking without Nal isn't a great idea. the key now is to follow the golden rule EVERY time. you'll get that "AL isn't so great" feeling in time. good luck and welcome to the forum.

I ended drinking for a few days and I had a terrible hangover, it lasted 3 days. Would it be different if I took a pill? Would I stop after a few drinks? Now I am even afraid of drinking again but I know that TSM works for you guys. Am I too weak for TSM? Is TSM for everyone?

Lilavi, TSM works for about 80% (some estimates are as high as 90%). For those that it doesn't work for, half fail because of compliance problems, half adhere to The Golden Rule, but it simply doesn't work for them.

If you stick with The Golden Rule and never drink without the Naltrexone, then you would start drinking less and less. Eventually, after a number of months (3-4 months minimum, often longer than that) you would no longer crave alcohol and will have reached "Pharmacological Extinction". At that point, you may decide to have a few drinks a week or maybe only a few drinks per year, but you don't get there overnight, it takes time and you have to keep to The Golden Rule.

I don't know that your hangovers would be any better with Naltrexone, some people say that they're worse.

So yes, you would stop after a few drinks, but it will take time to get to that point. You have to commit to taking the Naltrexone an hour before every time you drink though, and you must keep that up for the rest of your life. On the days you drink, take the Nal and wait an hour before you drink. On the days you don't drink, don't take the Nal.

it's worth it Lilavi! keep following the golden rule and you're likely to see real results after 5 months or so, maybe longer. for some of us it took longer, but when the switch was flipped, it was incredible....
