As to the why for getting a prescription, i mean... i need an Rx for my heartburn medicine. And my birth control. I think that's just the system unfortunately.
As for all your other questions...Welcome, and good luck :) you can find a great amount of information on this website :)

not for nothin because it is not for nothin but so anyhow..into week four and was at a conference in a sunny warm state for a few days having left four inches of ice on the ground with a bunch of friends and clients and a situation that in the past included me being a black out drunk and being poured into my hotel room....however, this year I took Nal one hour before the cocktail reception and dinner and instead of basically drinking myself into a coma (which would have happened because we were ordering drinks for each other between the tables some of which were unusual like creame deminth with dry ice ---its green and it bubbles and no one drank it--- or stingers or ordinary like burbon on the rocks) but i basically hit the alcohol wall after 4 drinks and had to stop. I felt like I was going to vomit if I had more to drink and then switched to water. But I was happy to stop and remained sober and had some good conversations with clients when I otherwise would have been illiterate and that would not have been good in that situation. So I got the feeling that naltrexone was fighting the battle successfully that I had been losing for years.

Yep, common feeling for me too. Nal works!

Hi D-D

Like Ketch, I first assumed you were a woman with your username! Welcome to the board and glad to hear nal is working well for you so far. Be prepared for some ups & downs. I have been at this for nearly 14 months and still haven't regained total control, but this way of life is still preferable to years in & out of AA with frequent relapses. I didn't realise Allen Carr had writtten a book about giving up drinking as well as one about giving up smoking.

I'd suggest you start posting on "Weekly Progress" since you've been at this a few weeks.

Cheers
Sticky ;)

Good luck to you ElectraLou and Sticky....I used to love alcohol, it helped remove a few filters in my brain in social situations where I am normally reserved and people take it the wrong way, but then alcohol became a nightmarish nightmare demon that was like a big bogeyman that possessed me like it was Mr. Hyde. Now I just hate it and could not stop it...Nal seems to be the new big kid on the block who can come in and beat up Al.... the bully...
