After taking your dose of Naltrexone, how long are you protected from the endorphin reinforcement?

I'm sure this is something a lot of us experience, waking up in the middle of the night and having a drink left on your nightstand and downing it, maybe getting another one - or three - before getting back to sleep. I've tried TSM before and I really want to follow protocol this time and do it right, not that I'm especially optimisitic that knowing it will only cover you for 12 hours will help give me the willpower to not engage in the morning drink when that kind of situation presents itself, but if I don't need to worry about it that'd be great! :D

Hi there and welcome - as far as I know, you are covered for about 12 hours. When did you try TSM before and what happened?

Maggie

Thanks Maggie.

I have tried on and off since 2012. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I definitely cannot say that I complied correctly much of the time. I've had days-long benders and just started drinking first thing when I wake up until whenever I fall back asleep, repeat X number of times and completely screwed up the program.

I think I was having some success during one of those runs and obviously, the golden rule is the most important thing, but it really did seem to have a better result after switching from Nodict to Naltima as I had read from several members on this site.

I'm newly invigorated to give it a good go; I completely read through the new Sinclair Method website and yesterday I bought and watched "One Little Pill". I have very little Nodict left but have a nice supply of Naltima on the way, so I am going to have to try and abstain until it gets here.

I have been Nal + drinking for a few days now, and I know the expected time frame is 3-6 months, but I am feeling the effects. A little less drive to get drinks down the hatch, and a bit of an annoyed feeling. Missing those endorphins seems almost palpable.

Congrats on your success as evidenced by your signature - always reassuring to see a success story.

Yes I am a success story - but I REALLY wanted to have the monkey off my back - and always followed the Golden Rule. You really have to want it Matt - you make it harder for yourself if you only take the nal some of the time - like a toddler at the sweet counter, your brain thinks if it pesters enough eventually you will cave - you cannot let that happen! You take two steps forward and one back when you do not take the nal all the time. PLEASE for your sake, if you want this to work, then do it. I do know what you mean re the being annoyed! I STILL sometimes wish I could want a drink - which seems so stupid, but I cannot make myself want one! The time frame given in the book is somewhat optimistic I think - it took me a year nearly. Some folk do find it works faster but they are the exception rather than the rule. You just have to hang in there and be patient. And have faith that it will work......I wish you all the best with it.

Hugs, Maggie
