Who here is educated enough to speak to which (or whether both) of these sorts of conditioning apply in TSM and, more importantly to this NOOB, to the user who is consistent with alcohol and perhaps not as consistent with the naltrexone?

Would one experience operant reinforcement behavior of backsliding on the med? I'm thinking, yes. Dangerously so... And to be avoided in my case at all costs!

Do not take nal if you aren't consistent. You are setting up intermittent reinforcement, which is VERY hard to extinguish. Not taking the nal at all is better.

Read the link in my sig. Its for you.

Yes, listen to sideeffect2. Doing the method sporadically is worse than not doing it at all. We've seen people here who took vacations from TSM and ended up in worse shape than they started.

That said, screwing up once isn't the end of the world. If you genuinely forget on one occasion, resolve to do better and move on. There was one occasion when I didn't wait long enough . . . it was a rather bizarre experience. I was able to see it as a danger sign, though, so I became very firm on the Golden Rule and still got cured.

It's a risk. It's a risk we shouldn't take. Even if we survive it once without problems, that doesn't mean we can continue to do so.

You sound so enthusiastic. I like that. :D
