Dear BWD,
Thank you for asking how are we doing, specially Ingrid.
I replied to you by e-mail, but I'm not sure if I did it right, so I quote my reply:
"I will answer through the website because I think that finding a way out
will only come through sharing and supporting. What are we without friends?
And thank you very very much for caring!"
So, I want to share how things are going:
Early this year, with the help of Dr. Eskapa, we succeded in stabilizing Ingrid with Mirtazapine for depression, and Naltrexone was working it's way. We had our Happy Hour every day (Ingrid was very eager to it), and she had 1 ~ 2 glasses of rosé wine (11%)
Then depression slowly creeped back and Panic too. What to do? Went to the doctor and he changed drugs - The alegation was that the organism was getting used to Mirtazapine - also with Ingrid's support because she was told and the doctor confirmed that it fattens. (women!!!).
Well, since then, now for the last 3 months(?) she has suffered a lot with depression - when not giving dressage lessons she kept to bed most of the day -, panic was also there, and she started to fight panic with secret drinking - "Just a sip, here and there" she said.
No need to comment!
Drinkind started to increase with some strong episodes between us, and to my shocking surprise, I discovered she was not always taking her naltrexone - She lied to me about that. I counted secretly the tablets.
This is truly a "Denial Disease". I think that by not taking the tablets she was trying to say to her that she was not so ill after all.
It is so clearly said in Dr. Eskapa's book that naltrexone is forever if you want to keep on drinking...
Well, I told her that I could not stand her drunk anymore, I could not guarantee my emotional stability, and I would leave her to herself, to her sole responsibility, and bye!
This clash had some effect, and she promised to naltrexone after it. Drinking became moderate again, although I think she is back to 3 , sometimes 4 units a day. With me, at happy hpour, are 1 ~2 units. The rest is throughout the day.
Depression is there, somewhat lighter, and panic is not often ( 2 ~3 times a week).
We changed the doctor, to a younger one, who had read about TSM, declared that for the time he had nothing against her daily moderate drinking, as it seemingly eased tensions and gave us good conversation. I Intend to speak to him directly about the TSM.
Although I already told him we woul never go back to abstinence and all the suffering that alcohol deprivation meant. Never again Rehabs and all that (I want to be moderate, and not comment on it now, but I have a deep frustration and anger about the past treatments Ingrid has gone through. NEVER AGAIN!)
We sort of "stabilized" in this unstable situation. Drinking all right but under risk of going out of hand. Depression there. Panic less.
"In twenty minutes everything can change", there is this saying here in Brazil, so there is not a definite solution, but we'll keep on fighting for it.
Here I have to say again a huge "thank you" to Dr. Roy Eskapa, who has giving us constant advice and support, although with tied hands, because I have to convince local doctors to follow his suggestions, and everyone here knows human nature and basic reactions...

Had it not been for The Sinclair Method, Naltrexone, and Dr. Eskapa's help, we would all have been destroyed by now, both of us, and our two children (29 and 30). I am absolutely sure of it. On my life!

I"ll keep you posted when something changes, for better - hopefully.
Thank you again, dear friends. I hope I have given some help or hope, telling you how things are with us now.
Please come back with whatever questions or remarks. We are a community and must remain so. Hands holding tight.
Yours, Gyorgy
