Ah, reboot, you made my day!

Notice, Dear Readers, how he capitalized EVERY. My target audience, reached.

When it comes to our drinking, we are all liars. And we also lie about when we take the pill.

In my opinion, reading between the lines, it is a bigger problem than we realize on this board.

Well written. I too needed to read this.

I am approaching month 4 soon, and felt discouraged by my results. As far as a TSM timeline of a drinker who did 80+ a week, I'm actually doing superb. But my Doctor and Therapist (required to get a Nal Rx) keep discouraging me about my alcohol usage, even though I've asked both of them to Read the book or watch the Documentary "One Little Pill."

Thanks for the motivation.

Clarion,

That was an amazing story. You give me hope and the strength to move forward to be on the list!

I have knee problems myself and it scares me to think I would have to be off the Nal. to have surgery. Did you have any issues with the pain meds? I have never been an addict of pain meds, but having a sister that was, scares me even more. When I did take them for back issues, but I thought the wine did a better job of reducing my level of pain (spoken like a true wino). I am sure this a question for a doctor, but I would like to know your experiences if you do not mind sharing. Since Nal. blocks the receptors and once off of it will open them up, did you find you needed a lower dose? And did you have any issue with coming off of them? I know I am a bit paranoid about everything (even about being put asleep to have the surgery), but I don't want to trade one issue for another.

Thank again for sharing,

Jaba

You worry so much Jaba you are beginning to make me worry!

You'll be fine. Just wait until you are cured before any elective surgery. Then you can just not drink or take Nal for a few days or so, and take narcotics instead.

No, the post surgery narcotics were no big deal at all. I think I only needed it for 3 or 5 days, mostly to sleep. My surgery was relatively minor (is minor surgery and oxymoron?). I didn't get into any trouble with the pain killers. They are not my thing. I am a one trick pony, and that trick was alcohol.

I loved reading this, thank you. I need to start reading a few more stories on the cured list to keep my chin up. I look younger that way. :D

Clarion, I had read this post when I first started TSM, but it was so great to revisit it. I always appreciate your matter-of-fact, honest posts here. Thanks!
