Guys, As you know I declared myself cured earlier last week and felt very good about my progress. However, last night I drank a couple of beers before dinner with the intention of stopping after a glass of wine with dinner and then proceeded to drink the whole 1.5 liter of wine watching the Patriots put away the Ravens. I drank the wine all the way up until midnight which well past the half life of the 50mg Naltrexone tablet. Of course I am never going to give up the fight and I don't consider this one battle the whole war but, I must say that my behavior is a bit disconcerting and demoralizing. I am curious whether any of you on the "cured" list have any experience with regression like this. Your candid feedback is appreciated.

I was very hesitant to call myself cured for that reason.

Anyway, ups and downs happen. The longer you stay compliant, the fewer cravings and incidents happen.

My sentiments exactly Guapo. My view of cured is not necessarily AF but, being able to take or leave it and I thought I was there.

Thanks sideeffect2. Excellent reference. How long have you been running on NAL?

Been since Oct 2013. I think I have only had maybe 6 pills total, so that makes me a fast responder. Havent had a drink in months, might be a long time before I do again.

Still, took me almost a year until I have not had any real cravings. If you want all the details, I have a very detailed thread in the weekly progress section.

You might want to file this lapse under "triggers".

Before NAL, NFL Playoffs were always triggers for me. I could count on being hungover after every Playoff Week until at least Wednesday, more likely Thursday. Fortunately, now I never drink at all while watching them.

Add to that the fact that the Patriots/Ravens game was one of the most exciting playoff games ever (all the more so if you are a Pats fan), and you might have just encountered the perfect storm. If so, you now know, and forewarned is forearmed going forward!
