Great! Best news I've heard in a while!

It took me 21 weeks to be cured by TSM. I think one of the last times I posted a response to you, I felt like you were on the verge of being cured. I am so glad it happened!

What you'll find as you continue, is that the Naltrexone keeps working every time you drink even after you are cured because you'll still be taking it so as not to get re-addicted. At 70 weeks into TSM, I am down to 8 beers per MONTH. Pre-TSM, I used to drink that much or more per DAY every single day. Now, I have entire weeks where I don't feel like having any alcoholic drinks, so I don't. Some other cured ones decided that they would just stop altogether since at these low levels it's easy. I have decided to continue to drink whenever the mood strikes me and it just continues a slow decline week after week.

I love your "Alcoholism is no longer incurable." tee shirt. Great saying! I wish I could wear one to my local AA meeting, but they don't want me there to "confuse" the membership. They have threatened me with forcible removal in a very non-confrontational way. All I did was bring my prescription bottle with me and let others ask me what it was. I answered the questions and did not "proselytize". Still, it was too overt, I admit.

Keep up the updates. Very many of the Cured, lose interest in curing alcoholism because their lives are no longer focused on it. I know it is difficult even for me to stay engaged after over a year. But I intend to have data through a full three years.

Spread the word my friend! Not too many people will do that, since there is no profit (Naltrexone is cheap), no meetings, no effort... just concrete results.

I remember about a year ago we discussed what the definition for "cured" is. I recall that I argued it should be the NIAAA definition which is where Ben's consumption is at right now. We finally decided that the definition is whatever the person who is cured wants it to be. And some people don't even want to call it "cured" and that is their choice, too.

I read Ben's blog after I just got started on TSM. He seemed to be quite the evangelist for the method, but now his blog appears to be down. I hope he's still doing TSM as he seemed to be making some good progress.

Last I heard he quit the Nal and went on a binge. He said at the time that he was not drinking though. Hope he's ok whatever he's doing

Seems to be ok according to his YouTube page.

joe12pack: is it really useful to say something like that?

You mean the truth? Umm.... yeah. Absolutely.

he seems to be doing fine but hasn't posted a TSM progress flick in months. Maybe he went abstinent or tried something else. Knowing Ben's TSM history, if he were doing TSM again I think he'd post about it.

BTW? why wouldn't it be helpful to post the truth for everybody to see? I'm not here to be a shill for TSM or paint a rosie picture all the time. i'm here to share my experience and knowledge of TSM so that it may help others. Many of us have found some of the info in the book to be wrong in our collective experiences and we've posted about it here. The 78% number seems high, the 3-4 month peroid is WAAAY off for the vast majority here, and the degree to which people are "cured" or helped by TSM varies greatly. that's what I've seen and what I'll share. hell, maybe I should spend more time here to make sure newbs aren't discouraged if the cure doesn't magically happen in 3 months, or to make sure the cure book isn't considered the end-all be-all of TSM. because it's not

I also share that TSM has made a positive difference in most of us here. just not as quickly and as cataclysmicly as the grandiose book by Eskapa claims

@ctwirbutt I’m drinking two or three times a week instead of every night, and all is well. Thanks for asking. I hope all is well with you too."

perhaps he just hasn't been to this forum lately for some reason?
