I wonder if anyone else had the same tragicomic experience; my wife started smoking after we started using nal regularly !! What she says (and in fact it makes sense according to what I`ve read in the book or on the net) is she can`t get `high`from alcohol, so she has to find something else to get high, which is smoking. Opioid receptors which naltrexone block have nothing to do with smoking it seems, thus the result.

I usually smoke when I drink. I feel like I've been trying to quit that habit for years now, it comes and goes for me. But I did have that thought on Saturday when I felt like I wasn't getting drunk... like if I smoked a cigarette I might get a high. Didn't really work for me though.

Strange. I have been a social (when drinking) smoker for years now, and since I started TSM my smoking has drastically dropped off, without any effort whatsoever on my part. I just don't really feel like smoking as much, and since I am drinking less, that also cuts into the cigarettes. Right now my boyfriend and I smoke, combined, about half a pack a week. It's amazing!!
