Hi, I am now on my sixth week on TSM. This weekend I slept loads more than I would normally which I put down to the Nal and also I have started back going for a run in the mornings and I am finding this hard going. Do I put this down to the Nal as well? Anyone have similar experiences? ta

Hi CM.... I used to exercise a lot before drinking became my main interest and have not noticed a huge increase in desire for exercise on Nal. In fact, I think that Nal's had a bit of a mood-flattening effect on me overall. I'm on Week 4 now and hoping to push myself back into more of an exercise routine, especially after a couple of days of no Nal (so far, 2 days = farthest I've made it). I'm happy for you that you're working out, even if you're not getting tons of pleasure from it yet. I agree with others on this board that simply quitting exercise because it produces endorphins on Nal days is a bit silly -- same for sex. Our bodies can always reboot for these once we have more AF days. They likely are not learned pleasures.

CM, I've been on Nal everyday now for 6 months. I work out 3 to 5 times a week for a number of years but the last 6 months have been the hardest just to push myself to go and it seems somewhat harder when I do work out, does that make sense? Now if I could push myself for a AF day like I do to go work out I'd be in a whole lot better shape :D

Re: Sleeping-- Yes, Nal, sometimes makes me drowsy. Also, less drinking may also cause you to sleep more.

Re: Exercise, as Seeking1 and Mousse suggest, yes, I believe that Nal can decrease your drive to do positive things like exercise. It's a negative side effect of Nal, but maybe it will encourage you to have more AF days.

Corkit, yes thanks for reply. this makes sense as I am finding exercising harder. I hope that this gives me more incentive to have AF days. The thinking being if I keep my drinking plus Nal to the weekends and then exercising on weekdays and try to get some more enjoyment therefore during the week.

Seeking & Nemo - thanks also and heres to AF days!!

CM -
I have been on NAL for a year now & in the last few months felt random days of really strong antipathy towards working out. Realized almost immediately that it was what it was (TSM) - and just continue to do what I do. But there are days when I really have to force myself to go to the gym...hate it. It has NOT translated to alcohol.

Good luck to you though -

CM,

I have chronic sleeping problems - probably why I drink - so I would be delighted if nal made me sleepy but alas it does not. It does however make me complacent about a lot of things including visiting the gym. Pre-TSM I went about 5 times per week and now I only go 2-3 times/wk. Oddly, I have lost weight on TSM. I don't think it is muscle mass because I do continue lift weights and have not lost any noticable strength. I attribute it to nal dulling my senses; I suspect that I am eating less without really intending to. I've lost about 7 pounds in six weeks despite chugging more alcohol.
