MY, MY, is anyone out there...

That is all, and nothing more.

I came on this sight because I wanted to give up. I had just had my first nal. over and I literally thought I was going to die and I needed to go to the E.R. I struggled with the fact that maybe this was not an answer for me, so before I gave up I posted here...just a raised hand in the ocean of alcoholism and sinking faster now that I thought was lost.

Caspar,

Please do not give up, and please continue to post here. We are a very dysfunctional family, but a family that will share and help every step along the way. Some of us "say it like they mean it", but everyone here truly does want to help and not to scare you away. We have a mix of personalities here, and some can come off more abrasive than others, so if you can over look our personality flaws we would love to hear about your progress and if you decide to continue Selincro/Nalmefene.

Jaba

Steve, I am glad that OSL help her, for I was about to email her.

Jaba - I am not going to post to try and stop some of the people that post here from saying what they say - they are entitled to their opinion and the way they say it. I do not have to agree with it any more than they have to agree with me.

I just get so frustrated with people that think that because they have been cured, it is that easy for everyone. We are ALL different. Thank goodness. I am still struggling BIG time - I am sure that I will be told that I need to try harder - whatever!

I am happy that Caspar got help from the other web site - hope that it does help her.

Hugs, Maggie x

Maggie,

I am sorry if my post offended you, for that was not what I was trying to do. I just wanted to point out that we all are different, and we all have struggles, but we are a family (at least I look at us that way) trying to help each other the best we can. I think that some of us can be outspoken and that can come across as abrasive; however, we all try to help (at least I would hope that is everyones goal). I did not agree or disagree I am merely here.

I am not cured, and I would have to say that this is far from easy. I struggle everyday. I still want to be drunk...I miss getting drunk, and I can but I would be sick from the nal....I could drink and not take the nal but then I would lose my family, my husband, and my life as I know it now. I think I would miss that more than getting drunk so I will fight to the end to keep my intake down.

Maggie, you were one the reasons I continued in this journey of TSM, and I am and will be forever grateful to you. You have saved my life by helping on this site, for everyone here has help me through this journey, but you have touched my soul and I thank you for that.

Jaba

From a more practical viewpoint, I would like to suggest to all of us dispensing advice on Nalmefene side effects to read this. It is an account of Joanna's experience with taking Nalmefene just so she could speak intelligently to the problem of side effects. It is rather eye opening. She was at the time a Naltrexone user.

Steve,

Thanks for posting that link. I read a little when JoAnna first started it, but I never read the rest. I admire her for doing that, for she truly wants to help everyone anyway she can...remarkable.

She almost describes how I felt when I had my nal. over. I could not image taking a pill, feeling that way and continuing with this program, for that sounded like hell.

It scares me to think what happens once the Nalmefene users are alcohol free for a month or longer...would they have to repeat that process? I think it would be great if they wanted to be abstinence, but I could not image repeating that process. I also wonder if it blocks the receptors like the nal. does, and if the users will have to be off the Nalmefene for surgeries. For I bet the side effects would have to be repeated (like the nal.) if the users are off Nalmefene more than a week...

I was thinking that if the nal. didn't work for me I would switch to the Nalmefene, but now I do not think so!

Jaba

I took it three or four times, and every time was more horrible

Would never take it again.

Caspar, just in case you are still hanging around...I am 20 weeks in and have to say that my side effects are pretty much gone. Some of them, especially heavy perspiring, were driving me crazy. My consumption is halved and being patient has been worth it.

Good luck to you!
