Hey LaBear, That sounds exactly like a stage I went through. I didn't have the panic atack though. I am not sure why that occurred and sorry that sounds terrible. But I totally get the having wine and not liking it and then having Vodka thing. I went through that. If you follow the way I went , you will not like vodka either soon. I always have a bunch of non-alcoholic drinks around now because I will actually go for them after a few drinks because my stomach starts to feel yuckky with booze. Then I usually go and start doing something else. I find myself making myself more busy and getting like I don't want to just sit around drinking anything anymore. Part of the issue is also breaking old stuck habits as well. I find this is work too. I have certain situations where I always used to do things a particular way. I find that when the method kicks in there are a whole bunch of other things that a person has to work on because they have been established in a way. I find it not easy to describe what I mean. :D

Potato, thanks so much for your reply. I am lousy at this computer too and almost missed your post. I got up this morning made coffee and came right here hoping someone would respond to my feelings. I was sober for 13 years and remember that I was a different person during those years choosing to do different types of things than I would ever do now! I hope I can get back there. I have read quite a bit about you here and how everyone has said how far you have come. I should read your story too, If I can find it. I don't post my units because I don't know how to add them. I am sure people don't type them in every post? I think we are quite a bit alike and I hope we are enought alike that I can get to where you are today! The Vodka and the Wine are not tasteful to me at all but the grab still is!

Thx from me too, Hot P'Tater - your posts are inspiring. I am at exactly 3 months and have felt absolutely no changes whatsoever. At ALL. WHATSOEVER.

I am in the grey area of trying not to be negative, yet worried I am part of the percentile it won't work for. I mean I feel NOTHING. Never had the honeymoon; only in the last 2 days, I had an "ehhhhhh" feeling about drinking, but I did it anyway b/c I 'd already taken the pill. I will keep on, but I swear, if I am still at this point in August...

My howling at the moon will be heard on every address on here...the agony of defeat, of finally falling on my own pitard...sad thought indeed.

LaBear and Houtx I feel for you . It isn't easy and our brains can be the greatest enemy at times. Like a few times I have gone through the whole day and am in bed just watching the tube wanting to go to sleep and I get restless and the old feeling comes back and I don't have to get up early and I feel like going downstairs and having a few drinks. It is a pain in the butt. Then I have to take the pill wait for a while etc. It's like what the f*#dge is going on? All I want is to go to sleep. Right now I am finding silly things like that happening. Sabatoge feelings. Yet I still have to say that all in all things are still much better. So I hope you don't give up because I am still dealing with things and it has been 6 months. I don't want you to get discouraged by that because the benefits for me outweigh the problems. Keep on going and all the best!! :D

Houtx, I have read your recent posts and know how you feel. I am re-married and silently still mourn the death of a 30 year marriage! I think of him almost daily. It is a rough road. Not sure it is what started me drinking again but I do wonder. Let's hope we can find something here to spur us on. Potato gives me hope because she too seems to have had our patterns in the past to some degree. There have been several times when I took the Naltrexone and only waited l/2 hr. and was wondering if that made a difference. Could be!
Not giving up yet!

houtx, you are NOT in the three months' range!!!! When you COMPLETE 13-1/2 weeks (start week 14), you will have completed three months. Go ahead, check a calendar. You're not quite in the 2-1/2 month range, if you're only into week 11. There are 4-1/2 weeks to an average month.

Give yourself a break. . .you deserve it. So do we all, God bless us.

Hi All,

Ya know, us "old timers" might forget the details about being new, such as the ability to show your progress/whatever you'd like to display each time in your signature. Maybe we should add a "How-To" post to the informational area that describes the forum? It's still a personal choice whether you want to share your statistics, but I think we all agree it's important to keep a drinking diary somehere.

Please feel free to ask about anything - I know the computer stuff bothers a lot of people. You can always send a PM (Personal Message) to one of us about something you're not comfortable posting. At the bottom of each post, you'll see a 'pm' button, which lets you send a message to that person. The other way is to click on the 'Members' link at the upper righthand area of the screen, which is my personal preference. It brings up a list of all members, and provides the options (buttons) to either send a pm or e-mail to them. If you get a 'pm' (personal message), you'll see something other than '0' in front of the 'new messages' link in the upper lefthand corner of your screen when you revisit the site. You can then click on it to see your Inbox.

I wasn't clear on all this at first (even though I have YEARS of software training/teaching experience), so don't feel bad about about being confused or asking for help. We want to make it easy to share your journey, so don't hesitate to remove the speed bumps - we all want to hear from you! :D

Thanks Waiting to Exhale, (great name!), regarding the posting of units, I don't do it because it is so sporadic. I go for 6 days with nothing then maybe have a half a bottle of wine or a few drinks then I don't drink again for a while because I am really unpredictable at this point and still slightly bingy. I say slightly because for some people a binge is days but for me it has never been more than one evening. Even that is not true usually. Actually it is funny because my drinking is less than some friends I know who believe themselves to be "social drinkers" who don't have a problem. I am just so used to thinking of myself in the past tense. (drinking wise). My brain has not caught up to who I am now thanks to the Sinclair method!! Yowsers, I just realized this. Very interesting! Keep going Bob and everyone else!! I wish you were all in a room with me sometimes. Lol :D

P'tater, your posts give me hope too! I'm not going to give up at all, just kind-of worried when I still don't see any changes. But not going to overthink it.

Happy Mother's Day to all!
