I waited a long time before I told anyone who might be sceptical. In the meantime I just did my own thing, it was only when they started telling me how happy, stable and healthy I looked - oh and how long have you been sober for, did I actually explain what I was doing.

No-one had heard of it, but that wasn't my problem. I gave them some info if they wished to look into it further, no one has complained they are just happy I'm ok now.

If I'd confessed sooner I think things would have been quite different though.
