Hello friends - I am one of the originals on this thread from 2009. I went from NAL to BAC to TOPA, even tried Anti-abuse. I am active on a thread called "New Here and starting TOPA" on the My Way Out site.

I am actually doing relatively well, all things considered...still drinking too much, but am a functioning alcoholic and happy with every aspect of my life except drinking too much. But the reason I am posting here for the first time in years, is that I am/was Facebook friends with an active member on this site, LoOP.

I logged onto FB today to find that he died yesterday. Further digging seems to reveal he committed suicide. It makes me very, VERY sad!! Evan Piccard had his ups & downs w/ AL, was on BAC too, was a body builder, and went to the Burning Man event in Nevada every year. He was very active on this site and MYO, and very supportive of all of us struggling thru this addiction. He posted graphs and charts all the time of his drinking...and the last I heard from him, was doing well.

Sad how things change for people. Suicide is a "permanent solution to a temporary problem" ...devastating friends and family who wished they could have helped. This is in memmorium to Evan Piccard aka LoOP. May he rest in peace! <3

I hope of you are well -

Another "founding member" joining in. Evan was so passionate about trying to help others. RIP Lo0p.

Warm wishes to old friends and new here.

That's so sad. My condolences to those who knew him.
