Sutt, it just seems to depend on the individual. Some people start craving alcohol more when they're on a particular SSRI, but another person taking the very same SSRI will cut back their drinking or stop entirely (or there will be no change in their drinking at all), even without TSM in the picture. If you think the venlafaxine may be making you crave alcohol, talk to your doc about it ASAP, as they may want to switch you out to a different antidepressant.
Some have noticed that their progress with TSM is slowed when using one or the other SSRI and when their doctor puts them on a different one, they start making progress again. Paroxetine lists alcohol abuse as one of the possible side effects, but I'm afraid it's a bit of a crapshoot and not everybody gets that side effect from it. It just seems to depend on your own particular chemistry.
