I had previously read somewhere that your genetic makeup determines if you will be successful or not- thus the roughly 20% of people who don't succeed. Would I be able to get a DNA test to determine if I will be successful or not? Any ideas on how much it would cost?

There are DNA tests available online, I've not taken one and not looked into it either.
