I have been on the sinclair method for 10 weeks and have been drinking pretty heavily. I have my good days but most of them would be ones that I want to forget and put behind me. Although I must brag and say that yesterday was better. However, I bumped my dosage up to 100 mgs since I am not very sensitive to meds. Can take 3 mgs of Xanax and still function perfectly...(don't worry...don't do this often...lol  ) So, I'm wondering if maybe I might require a little more than the normal dosage for the effect to work on me. Any ideas or anyone else out there on 100mgs?

Rachel

Hi sillygrits. I know this is a guestion for Dr. E. but you also asked if anyone else is out here on 100mg , that's me. In a prior thread the Dr. approved of me taking 50 mgs Nal 2 x per day as I am a 24/7 drinker.

(Periodically 2, 3, or 4, times a week, I also take zanax 5-6 a.m. .25 mg or 1/2 of that dose). Dr. E posted recently he will be addressing zanax use in a future post.

I also use Baclofen, 10 to 20 mgs per day most consistently.

So it will be interesting to read what the doctor has to say.

and this is my 12th week drinking steadily at 1 1/2 to 2 bottles white wine throughout the 24 hours. One good thing, is I never seem to get out of control and drink to an inebriated state. Just calm, and mellow and slow.

It is my impression that benzodiazepines like valium, librium, and xanax hamper rather than enhance the Sinclair Method. Also, they are addictive themselves and you should consult your doctors about tapering off gradually.

The 100 mg naltrexone will not de-addict you sooner than 50 mg - of course taken an hour before drinking and never if you are abstaining.

BDZs - valium, librium, xanax will hamper progress in most people.

Try to reduce these to zero - under a doctor's care - and you will benefit immensely.

i realize it is hard to get of BDZs - but we are aiming for de-addiction here - for all of you out there. Remember, millions have got off BDZs - on their own or with medical help - I suggest medical help. Of course. You need a plan. Do not go cold-turkey on BDZs! Can have very nasty - dangerous consequences - depending on type, dosage and length of use.

Dr. Roy, the reason for the uptake of the Nal from 50 mg to 100 is because of 24/7 drinking. Easy to take 50 mg one hour prior to drinking for the people that drink in the evening.

Your advice to me was to take 50 mgs 2 x a day to "cover" the hours.

Do you have a change of mind?

Thank you for being here and for your contribution.
