Yes, I ditto Bob, in SPADES! My best friend was on the road with me three years ago, and kept experiencing what you're describing here. It WAS a detached retina, and she lost most of the vision in that eye permanently. Had to give up her regular job of driving school bus - her life has not been the same ever since. Her other eye is also at risk. . .and all the more so, since it has to compensate for the loss of vision in the other eye.

Please don't take this lightly. If you think I'm trying to scare you, you're right. Get thee to a doctor/emergency room asap.

See a physician as soon as possible.

Yea, well, there are always a few exceptions. The trick is finding them. I should probably qualify, though, by saying that, while most doctors are decent while you're actually working with them, actually getting to the point where you can discuss issues with them is extremely time consuming and can be very expensive. For me, though, those 32 words compress rather neatly into "doctors suck".

For the most part I would agree with RR here. Anyone else seen the movie SICKO? Really scary stuff - US medicine is out of control. Made me want to relocate to Canada, or France. (Any Canadian men here want to marry a 50-something soon-to-be-ex-alcoholic? ) However, I don't see the problem as being primarily rooted in bad doctors - there are those pharmaceutical companies to look at, as well.

However, there are definitely exceptions. My SO just called, and his MD agreed to prescribe for BOTH of us, so I don't have to pay those outrageous internet prices. She's also going to refer any alcoholics who can't get abstinent to him for information on The Sinclair Method. She is open minded. . .and very, very compassionate. She's planning to check out the book, and this forum. (She has a lot of respect for his opinions. . .as well she should!) He's very, very smrt.
