I just spent a few long, cold days over at the Sober Village forum where they definitely don't like TSM. I felt like I was at an AA meeting where the longterm sober peeps are very condescending know-it-alls. So WHEW, glad I found THIS forum—I feel like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz when she got back to the farm and Auntie Em!

Hi, my name is Amy and I'm an alcoholic.

Like many alcoholics, I've tried everything from rehab to mega-supplements to AA and failed miserably; the only things they succeeded at were emptying my wallet and diminishing my hopes.

After a particularly lengthy alcohol-laced party—given by me for me and lasting well over 2 months, I got back in the saddle and started my quest for help once again. By the grace of Google, I stumbled upon The Sinclair Method and now I firmly believe it is saving my life. I'm so over-the-top thrilled about this TSM that I want to spread the word and help other alcoholics. Since I'm a designer and app developer, I thought an app would be a great way to reach a global market, quickly and cheaply, so I spent a week in my pajamas ignoring food and basic hygiene to create an iPhone app called, "The Little Miracle Pill that Cures Alcohol Addiction. I gave a naltrexone pill cute little wings and a halo for the opening page and I tried to make the app as useful and as groovy as possible, so far over 200 people have downloaded it and I hope they are on there way to soberland. I also launched my daily ramblings on a blog: AdventuresofToxicGirl.BlogSpot.com.

And now I can connect with fellow TSMers! Yahoo. Naltrexone is so awesome that I thought it could take all my troubles away, but alas it cannot so I'm glad I have this community for support. OK, I'm going to go skulk around this forum now and peek into others' lives for a bit!

Welcome -- Love love love the blog! I'm putting a link here for the cut-and-pastally (we DO have them) challenged to follow:
http://adventuresoftoxicgirl.blogspot.c ... escue.html

One observation: I can tell you are on the young side. As a founding member and former moderator here, I've read virtually post here until recently. One thing we've learned here is that while you youngsters follow the timeline Eskapa sets out in his book, those of us who have had a loooong-term relationship with alcohol usually take far longer -- maybe six months to a year. It's the biggest gripe about the book on the board.

Please continue to drop in and share. And THANKS for using your talents and skills to share TSM with the world.

Welcome ToxicGirl!

I left a comment on your March 3, 2010 post with a short history of my success and a link back to this site. I'm in my 53rd week on TSM and yesterday celebrated my 1 year anniversary by eating some ice cream, watching TV for an hour an going to sleep. Drinking? What's drinking?

Bob

Hi TG & welcome here! I love it that you created an iPhone app for this...a very close relative created Fortuneball for Apple & is going there after he graduates UT this spring to start his career...I am very proud of him - my whole family is very excited - as you should be about yours! WOW

Apple is quite fond of those whose apps they adopt...so don't know your situation, but use it to your advantage that they accepted it. Pretty freaking awesome!!

Also hope this method work for you, and yes, in that you are young...chances are huge! Good luck and keep us postedon all fronts -

XO

Welcome! I think I'm in love with you! Don't tell your husband!

But seriously, you had the "honeymoon" followed by the "extinction burst." Search the terms and read all about them here. Most of us have "been there, done that" and it is all part of the roller coaster ride to THE CURE.

I'll post on your site soon!

My best,

Nick

I cannot express how much cooler and saner everyone is over here at TSM. I also really appreciate the support and experience and welcoming messages! 90% of the time I'm in the "I'm slowly getting cured" camp and then around 3am when I wake up to my dog snoring on the bed, the darkness washes over me like the soot from a coal fire and the thoughts fling from panic to distress to sadness; I think to myself, boy am I'm stubborn and I loooooove alcohol and no little pill will change that, but then I hear all this sage advice and my confidence is restored. So thank you, thank you! Oh, and Nick, I love you too.

Well, tonight being "Saint" Patirick's day and me being part Irish, I decided to imbibe tonight after my 100mg Naltrexone post-1hour. It was a conscious decision and not a craving at all.

All I can say is "Wow". I have never been so much in control and decisive in all my years alive. I'm actually debating whether to have that 4th Guinness or not. I may or may not. Regardless, I am at home, not going to drive anywhere and there is no doubt in my mind I will not drink for several more days after today with no effort whatsoever. Thus this is the mechanism of Naltrexone... a conscious decision without a driving irrational craving. I'll let you know what I decided.

Bob

I'm on my 4th (measured 4 ounce glass) white bordeaux and I didn't even know it was St. Patty's day, I live under a rock sometimes. Happy Saint Patty's Day Bob! Have you always taken 100 mg? Should I be taking more than 50mg? I was just wondering....

TG, our little shamrock - 50 mgs works for most. Wait and see where you are in 6 months. I had a lovely evening w/ friends tonight, had 3 beers then came home to a couple more glasses of CAB...talked to a good friend about this method and she was very int'd. She is a bad drunk on most occasions...ok tonight when we all left but only b/c her husband was there. Anyway, it was nice to tell someone about this and thinking it would probably work for her...but I had to fake my own success to some extent. Worth it -
