My first sobriety date was April 6th 1993. I had been drinking heavily and smoking a lot of meth. I came out of my first rehab ecstatic at the prospect of a new life. I went to meetings most days, attended sober bowling leagues, dances, parties and just really stayed hooked in. when you brother died of AIDS about a year later, 8 days after his partner's (and out best family friend passed away), I was ready to get loaded.
But I called my sponsor abnd he said to o to the next meeting available. It was a leather-clad bikers meeting. those guys took care of me and I put 4.5 years of sobriety under my belt.
then I decided I hadn't had enough consequences to qualify like my fellow 12-steppers and picked up a drink. since then I have put together a few one and two year intervals. Lakely, it's been every 6 month cycles. 7 rehabs. over 15 working the steps. Probably 13 or 14 sponsors. Each time my hope diminished.
then Amazon put "One Little Pill" on my suggestions list. Thanks so much to Claudia!!! I ordered Naltima (India Naltraxone). But tomorrow I go see the ONLY ONE TSM Dr. in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex I could find.
Here has been my journey so far

Hi Harmonicaman
how are you going with it?
yeah i spent years in and out of AA. Basically because I didn't know what else to do. As sooon as I discovered tsm it made sense to me straight away.
I hope you're still having success with it it looks like you have been. Make sure you keep informed and ask any questions. I first started tsm with 50mg and had little success. then i went off it and now im back on taking 75mg. and in 3 months i've seen way more progress. ive just about halved my booze intake.
it sounds like you have been a very heavy drinker so it's something to keep in mind if you don't see much improvement. if you have a genetic predisposition to alcoholism, which im guessing i do, then you may need a stronger opioid inhibitor.

anyways best of luck

week 1 to 13
