I have almost always drank red wine since becoming an alchie. There was always this sense that if I drank something else it wouldn't be "good enough" or "it". Of course, if at a festival with beer and no wine, what's a girl to do but drink beer?!?! So I CAN b flexible

Anyhow...I find myself now enjoying other, more tasty drinks, which is fun! I will continue with red wine as well because my guess is it has its own little Superhighway Network...Red red wine! :P

I'm curious to hear about others "drug of choice" and how it has or hasn't changed.

Peace,
Lisa

Been on TSM since 3rd of September this year. My main drinks were Whisky, Gin and Cognac. However I also drank a lot of white wine and beer (only a little red wine).

The strangest thing has happened on the Naltrexone, I have no interest in beer anymore. I try to have some occasionally but it just means nothing to me. Why? Maybe this might change but who knows?

Whisky, Gin, white wine etc. the Nal has had little effect - yet.....

My drink has always been the Long Island. However, my staple is just a can of Bud. Beer is an everyday drink for me, with hard alcohol much more rare than it used to be. Good news, I went to Universal Studios yesterday (Took my Nal, of course), had 3 beers (just getting warmed up) and then opted for my treasured long Island. I could not finish it after getting halfway there, and I had no desire to drink the rest of the day, or even when we got back home. A fridge full of beer, left alone! Amazing.

Since that post I find myself back to preferring my red wine, but still do order other drinks on occasion. I definitely find I don't crave other drinks as much. I bought beer and lots of yummy ingredients for bloody marys to have at home and almost never go to them after the wine is gone, but will always finish my wine. Very curious.

During my earliest and worst addictive years, I drank liquor (it does the job quicker). During the other two addicted periods, though, I was a beer gal.

I've been using beer for extinction, but I've really kinda lost interest in it. It seems flat and stale. I'm thinking of trying a bit of wine next time (on naltrexone, of course), just to see what the differences are.

I tend to prefer heavier/darker beers. Heff has been a favorite for this most recent addicted period (which has only been maybe 18 months long, since I finally learned about TSM).

Beer.

Lots and lots of beer got to me where I was Pre-TSM. I got to the point that I could consume so much beer, that it wouldn't "do the trick" as it would in the past.

I then started supplementing beer with the had stuff. I then decided that vodka should be the booze of choice as it had the least amount of alcohol smell to it.

I then evolved into a pint of vodka on the ride home from work, cracking a beer as soon as I got home, to cover an pre-existing booze breathe. Then I would drink beers thru the evening with a vodka gulp supplement ever so often.

Now, during this TSM Journey, I have done away with the vodka. Domestic Beer doesn't have the desire/taste it used to have, however, once I get started, I still can down more than I should.

I am now only drinking beer and/or flavored barley/hops/malt beverages with the same alcohol content as domestic beers, but probably loaded with sugar and calories. Not really happy thinking about the added calories, but glad to be free of the vodka.

My 2 cents.

vilmamike12, not sure what you are talking about as this Forum is about alcoholics using TSM and they have to drink with Nal for extinction to work. If you are not familiar with TSM I suggest you read "The Cure for Alcoholism: The Medically Proven Way to Eliminate Alcohol Addiction" as most of us have read. We all know it is injurious to health and that is why we need to get our drinking under control or end it all together. NONE of us want to be addicted but we are and we are doing something about it doing TSM.
