I'm new to this forum and am on here to get more information about the Sinclair method in hopes of helping my brother. I give all of you credit for being here and wish you all well in your quest to get better. This is truly an insidious disease.

Quick question, can someone begin taking this if they have already been drinking for about 2 weeks? I know you are supposed to drink while taking it, but if they have already been drinking is it safe? I'm assuming yes, since some of you have posted about binge drinking, etc.

Little background...my brother was prescribed Nal after detoxing, and took it for awhile but then stopped taking it. This was before I found information about drinking and taking it. I would like to let him know about this method. He has gone through cycles of drinking and not drinking,but when he drinks he winds up having to go to detox to stop...he will not stop on his own.

Yes, you can take it. You want to try to wait 1 full hour after taking it before you start drinking each day.

Hi...and welcome. My 2 cents from a guy who was in the trenches. Definitely tell your bro, I believe this is the first protocol one should attempt with this problem. Its not important that your bro has been drinking. The TSM protocol is simple. A purist would suggest a liver checkup first. If all ok, then start with 25 mg for the first 2 days 1 hour before beginning each drinking session. On the third day and for the rest of your drinking life, up it to 50mg 1 hour before beginning the drinking sessions. This taking nal 1 hour before drinking is an essential part and can never be violated. That's why its called The Golden Rule. Its that easy. I choose not to have a liver checkup and I get my nal over seas. It has worked for me, I couldn't be happier. There are some real sharp people in here and they will help. Thank you plantpr0 for your advice. That is good news. I am going to go over all this with him this weekend. Will let you guys know how it goes.

It's great that you want to help him. I hope he's open to it. Is there any chance that he could come on the forum himself?

It doesn't matter that he's already drinking without it. What matters is that he not do it on-again off-again -- if he decides to try this, he must commit to taking nal an hour before he drinks, every time he drinks.
