Hello everyone. Let me introduce myself. I'm 47, male, live just outside of Houston, work as an engineer, married 23 years, 2 kids, 1 dog, 1 McMansion, 2 hamsters, 1 boat, 2 sets of golf clubs, etc.... Not your stereotypical alcoholic, I guess. Had two friends who were on Sinclair Method starting about two years ago with success. I started not too long ago and have had success, too. What can I say? I succeed at things! I started drinking at the end of high school, went to UT where fraternities are huge and drank like crazy in college. Over the years, I drank either heavily or not so heavily 7 days a week (love martinis). My wife drinks, too, not quite as bad as me. I got my Nal from my friend who had a bunch left, so I haven't actually bought any yet. Currently down to about 3 days a week and have a strict personal rule not to drink to relieve stress -- I find other ways. My kids have noticed the difference, my wife not so much (which makes me think, hmmm).

I read "The Cure for Alcoholism" and "Babylon Confidential" and anything else I could get my hands on before starting. My wife has a medical background and she read them, too, although she didn't feel like she should start Nal herself. My current stash of Nal should last me through the summer.

Welcome bkn1627, Glad to here you are on board because of friends who have succeeded with TSM! Its great to know fellow TSM's personally. i would love to get to the point where I could care less whether I drink or not. My hubby says I'm not your typical alcoholic either. I had to convince him that I control the urge to have more once I've started drinking. The difference being that he rarely drinks. Perhaps your wife will join you on TSM once she sees more improvement, but then again she may be drinking just to join you. I know this is what my grandfather and father did. Anyhow, keep posting and look to your friends both here and at home for encouragement. I'm sure there are plenty of men around that can relate to your story. I wish you success!!! Keek
