I was on 'Trex for a couple months and had a bike accident, smashed my elbow and had to take narcotics. I was off it for a while and as soon as I could cease those hateful painkillers I started back on 'Trex. The first day I was walking and started getting this unpleasant stoned-like feeling. I spent the rest of the day in cold sweats. Then I got better. I figure it was withdrawal from narcotics. Then I took trex as normal and drank...a lot every day all through December. Then on January 6 it just stopped.

It was effortless. I mean, I made no effort to quit at all. The desire to drink just fell off like a dead leaf off a tree or a snake shedding its skin.

Now, I was in AA for years long ago and I stumbled across a writing of their co-founder Bill Wilson who said something to the effect of "Even if science were to one day come up with a pill to cure alcoholism (where you could take a drink again safely) we would still need the spirituality of the program to learn how to live and be happy without being dragged down by resentment and fear..."

AA should not feel threatened by 'Trex. Anybody out there have any experiences going to AA on
'Trex and speaking openly about it?

Remember, Bill Wilson even tried LSD, because it was shown to be a successful treatment for alcoholics.

Hi Adrian

I have been taking nal for a year and still attend 1 AA meeting a week. It's a women's group in a treatment centre but women can come from outside the rehab. I arrange a guest speaker for each week. I told my "ex" sponsor about nal and she has been hugely supportive, but I can't talk about nal in the meeting because AA is an abstinence program and also because the treatment centre promotes abstinence. I have mentioned it to a few AAs outside of meetings however. I've been thinking while I've been on holiday how I could promote it more. Unfortunately I haven't had anything like the success you have had with it - that is awesome!! I still don't know if I will declare "regained control" and therefore am not ready to do much more at this stage.

Cheers
Sticky ;)
