Delighted you joined Ben. Ive watched your videos and I have to say your very brave to come out so openly. Not a lot of people could do that so well done.

TSM has been a God send for me as well and the best thing is that I no longer have this awfull fear of alcohol and what its going to do to my life or my familys life.

Im going to have a look at your blog now.

Ben,

Thank you posting. Your YouTube content is brilliant. It really takes guts to do that; I'm not sure I could manage it. Wouldn't it be kool if the regulars here would do the same. I would love to be able to attach a face with names such as mineapolisnick, bob3d, lena, N101CS, houtx, corkit, Lo0p, and ... the list goes on and on.

There is general consensus here that the time for success with TSM is proportional to the depth of dependence, so don't be surprised if it takes longer than three months. It sounds like you are definitely seeing improvement, which means that TSM will work for you. Hang in there and keep posting.

Best,
-wort

Hi Ben,

I loved the vids. I tried to post you a link here on the comments but was unsuccessful due to link placement challengement syndrome (LPCS). Anyway I'm glad to see you here, and it's great to have yet another Seattellite in the mix.

Welcome from me too, Ben. Your story is heartbreaking, and I fear not uncommon. What a waste of years - but maybe not...now, you have enormous credibility - you actually have been there - down and out - now that you have discovered there is a way out you can have wonderful influence on others. I'm going to send your post to a dear friend of mine - maybe he'll be moved by your experience to try naltrexone.

Thanks for telling your story.

Wow, I just watched all the videos and your honesty is staggering. As someone just about to start (waiting for my Nal), things like this are incredibly motivating. I'll be curious to see how it works for me as a daily drinker vs. a binger (I suspect I have a longer path, judging from other posts here).

Thank you for the videos - I'd 'subscribe' on YouTube, but my account there is readily identifiable with the real me; letting us know here when you post a new one would be highly appreciated.

Hi BenTSM! I was hoping you'd show up over here. There is quite a crowd over here that enjoy watching your videos and are impressed that you have the courage to make these videos and show the world what TSM can do.

I enjoyed your last video where you point out that Naltrexone works no matter what your belief system is. Personally, I had problems with AA because my faith conflicted with their "spirituality" and faith based so-called recovery steps. You, as an atheist, must have been offended by the thinly veiled derogatory chapter on "We Agnostics". Many folks say AA is not for everyone, but I say based on their dismal success rate that AA is not for anyone. Self-remission (stopping or moderating with no treatment) according to the Handbook of alcoholism treatment approaches: Effective alternatives (3rd ed.), 2003, Allyn & Bacon., a medical book, is actually more effective than AA. So, one could argue using actual facts that AA and 12-stepping in general actually hurts those who were probably going to stop anyway.

OK, I'm starting to ramble. Keep visiting us. Comment whenever you want, or not... it's your choice, but please keep us posted on your progress. If you like historical graphs, some of us post our progress in the form of graphs (mine is here: http://www.thesinclairmethod.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=341&start=465 after 1 year of TSM).

I hope you enjoy this site as much as we enjoy your videos.

Again welcome!

Bob

Thanks to everyone for the kind responses. I made a new video yesterday in which I actually get a little drunk. I'm not as confident about this one, so am curious what people think. Here's a link:

It's good - realistically shows that there's still drinking involved, just in-control drinking. Plus, you got the all-important Caddyshack reference in there, so you've got that going for you.
