Congratulations EOB! Changing locations is an excellent idea! I'm beginning to realize how much of this is habit, e.g. 'it's Friday night so let's open a bottle (or two) of wine,' so changing things up is a great idea - such as meeting at the wine bar instead. I just need to learn how to stop the train. One or two is great but leads me to three or four, which is not! Anyway, keep up the good work. I'm confident we'll get there if we continue the plan!

Great progress EoB! I am the same way - that Friday night bottle of wine and then sometimes some more seems the inevitable conclusion to a long stressful week of work. The change in routine was a great idea as well as adding food. I find that that helps tremendously because it shifts the focus slightly onto something equally as enjoyable - tasty food!

I still have to work on drinking when I don't really want to but normally do anyway. I was planning on waiting until dinner to drink but my boyfriend ended up running really late and since I was ready, what did I do? Have a glass of wine, then another 1/2 before he got here. It's like I don't know what to do with restlessness or slight boredom anymore but drink - and that's a habit/trigger that I'm going to have to deal with if I want to make progress.

I do think the nal wears off somewhat, EoB. I find that the first 4-6 hours after taking it is when it is most effective. AFter that I can easily drink through the nal if I want to.

Take Nal, distract yourself during that first drink - talk to people and eat. I find after about half an hour I'm bored with the alcohol and would rather have a soft drink, or even go for a nap or a walk. You'll feel far better after any of those than guzzling more booze.

If money is not an object, I find that sometimes switching drinks and just leaving other ones unfinished or "losing" them can distract people from how much you are really drinking. If you are wine tasting especially, you always have the option of pouring the remaining wine out (which I did lots of the last time I went wine tasting, even though it broke my heart!!). Also, make sure to eat periodically, it will slow you down.
