I heard about Sinclair methid earlier in the week. Did my research yesterday. Ordered pills this morning.

I am 20-30 units (UK) a day guy (in US). Steady slide for 20 years or so, last 5 were rough. 7 750ml bottles of 13.5% wine over 36 hours few weeks back scared hell out of me. Not that I could not manage it, quite opposite, that I could.

Don't feel confident I can get out of it on my own, it's like a swamp, more you move deeper you go.

I am very punctual when it comes to booze, tracking intake, knowing what boosts the buzz and what tampers. Analytical alcoholic. In the past I was mostly looking into myself to see what maximizes the buzz, recently as negatives got over red line I started looking at what alcohol is all about and got ton of education. Sinclair's findings resonate well with what I know.

Should mention that I am coming from family and environment of alcoholics. Nothing dramatic to share, just that it was and is everyday thing. Whole lot of personal troubles in last 5 years, divorce being most positive one. I'd be in denial to blame my fall on any of that. Lots of alcoholics look for excuses in personal circumstances.

Alright folks, I'll let you know how it goes with me and Nal. BTW, my motivation is at all time high, hope it will help.

Hi drunkie,

I can only speak for myself but my alcoholism is undoubtedly the result of my anxiety disorders.

BTW, welcome to our community.

Good luck with your TSM journey!

Yes, welcome!

I love your term "analytical alcoholic".
That's what I was. Now I'm just analytical. :D

There's a lot of information on these threads and personal histories. Some of us more analytical types, track numbers religiously and then graph them and discuss correlation coefficients, all that geeky stuff. So, you may actually enjoy your journey through TSM as you discover trends and facts about yourself. It's a nice diversion from the impatience we all seem to feel when months go by and nothing seems to be happening. Then, it finally does and it'll surprise you. So look forward to that surprise in a few months!

Bob

Welcome Drunkie.

Take 25 mg the first time to minimize side effects. Most of us experience nausea the first dose -- take it on a full stomach. Side effects also include weird sleep and feeling "spacey" but diminish after the first few doses.

TSM is basically effortless at first -- take the pill an hour before you drink -- that's it. Where your motivation will come in handy is PATIENCE. This method works but there are ups and downs and it will take many months for true extinction to occur. Think 6 months to 12, most likely.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone for warm welcome! Holidays are killer for me. They bring you out of rythm, give extra time to drink and if all you can think is a drink then nothing good can come out.

"Full stomach" might be a problem for me. I don't eat before getting drunk. Once you eat nothing will get to you. I don't do hard liquers or strong drinks other than socially or when there is no alternative, it's hard with this stuff to control rate of intake. When I do I usually overdo, and then look at the empty bottle without remembering anything beyond first few minutes.

Drinking on full stomach defeats the purpose. If I have lunch then I don't get to enjoy drinking before dinner.

There are other things i am worried about. How does TSM work for someone who drinks in the morning just a few and maybe having couple drinks in the middle of the day and then going full speed in the evening? I suppose I'd have to sacrifice morning and noon but then I will continue having cravings as extinction will not happen for those scenarios which are less engraved but are very real.

I appreciate all wisdom and experience and input of people who made it and equally who are trying. i am going to be good student of this board.

Trust me drunkie you will want to eat something before you take the Nal and drink or you could be the unusual case where it won't matter, in any case why take the chance? Right now you're looking at all this before experiencing what it's like to take it and drink so it's just a warning before you do.

Ahh...Reminds me of me!

I'm with drunkie. If you don't mind having to buy an extra bottle of port cause you might lose the first one, I say go for it!

Port...my favorite poison. Haven't touched the stuff in months though. :D
