Hello Brit,
I'm so glad you found this site.
I haven't been on in months. I went to another site and saw a message by you asking for info re: the method. I directed you to this site and here you are without my 2 cents!
i am also 54 and have been drinking since my teens. I thought the whole quitting thing was hopeless until I found the book and this website.
I do not drink all the time but when I do, I can't stop.
I have been taking the Nal for about two weeks and it has been amazing. I've been stopping after one. I guess this is the honeymoon. I wish it would last. I feel so good.
I wish us all the very best and I wish this whole thing was more well known.
Hang in there!
LD

((LD)) Thanks so much for directing me here! I am glad you showed up again and hope that you stick around cos it sounds like we have similar situations.
This is kind of scary but I am putting all my faith into it. I am worried about one thing and that is the morning cravings. I drank 2 beers this morning to quell them and get back to sleep after waking far too early. I don't take my nal until around 7pm so I am hoping that it is still in my system when I drink a beer or 2 in the morning. That is the scary part.
Anyway, I am happy for you and hope very much that you get what you need from the Nal, that all of us here do!

Cheers,
Brit

10 units in all last night/morning

Hi Brit. If you are drinking in the morning why don't you take your Nal in the morning? You could ask one of the "old timers" if you should take .25 in am, and .25 in pm as I don't know if that's the way to handle morn and eve drinking. Best to you..

When I drink, I drink 24/7. Just enough to keep it in my blood.
Dr. E. suggested I take 50 mg 2 x per day to see if I would have better results.
I tried to remember to do that, but would forget, and I didn't want to take so much med.
What I did do was keep it by my bedside and when I first awakened, I would take 50mg.
So if this is helpful info, there you go!
I think some others take 25 mg but I have no insight into that formula.

Good ideas from you two. I am still having some not so nice side effects from the 50 Nal so I think that I might take 25 at night and 25 in the morning and see how that goes for a while.
Having it by my bedside is a very good idea too.
It's just great to have someone to bounce ideas off of.
Thanks,
Brit

This is my second week of taking Nal and I am feeling really, really tired.
Has anyone else experienced this tiredness after beginning the Nal?
I could just be coincidence. My doctor ordered my blood drawn yesterday and hopefully in a day or so I will know if it is something missing.
Luckily I can sleep when and if I need to so not that big of a deal but the weakness that goes along with the tiredness makes it tough to do normal things around the house.

Brit
Still happily taking my Nal before I drink anything and have read the book and have even more hope for recovery.

Welcome, glad you've joined us. Yes i found i was extremely tired for the first 2-3 weeks. it did gradually pass though.
Great that you have your hubby on board. 50 mg gives approx 12 hours cover so 25mg gives half that time period so you need to calculate accordingly. perhaps you cold set a reminder in your phone.
