Interesting. It looks like they are going to be using two 50 mg doses per day.
Another study:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2635474/It's on mice. They didn't test naltrexone, but they did test mice that had no µ opioid receptor gene (knockout mice). The mice with no µ opioid receptors had much less motor impulsivity. They were also insensitive to the effects of ethanol (surprise, surprise).
Quote:
Together, our results suggest that mu-opioid receptors enhance, whereas delta-opioid receptors inhibit, motor impulsivity. This reveals an unanticipated contribution of endogenous opioid receptor activity to disinhibition. In a broader context, these data suggest that alterations in mu- or delta-opioid receptor function may contribute to impulse control disorders.
So, if we work like mice, naltrexone should make us less impulsive. The study is from 2009. I'll try to find something newer, because it seems like pretty big news.
