FYI,
Link below to free article. It is a new analysis from a large clinical trial (COMBINE Study) using naltrexone that validates TSM. However, it does not reference TSM or Sinclair.

Great article - It sounds like Ondansetron might work for the 20% that naltrexone doesn't work for.

Excerpt:

alcoholics...were able to cut their alcohol consumption significantly using the drug onadansetron (Zofran). The anti-nausea drug often used with cancer treatments, blocks serotonin receptors and seems to diminish the buzz some alcoholics get from drinking."

The lead physician Bankole Johnson seems to be keen on getting more people to participate in his research.

You could always email him on: bankolejohnson@virginia.edu

I notice that the study only lasted 16 weeks. As over 800 of us have proven here, pharmacological extinction takes considerably longer for most of us. They needed to examine results for a year to arrive at more accurate conclusions, IMO. The 20% efficacy rate is probably about right after just 4 months and would be way higher at six to twelve months. Thanks for this great post.

Also the results that they reported was a complete artifact of the study. In other words the experimental design did not include telling subjects to drink on Nal. They just did so incidentally. Still they observed significant effects.

Cool. Thanks for sharing a postive study of Nal.

Excellent point Digetic. These folks drank when they weren't supposed to, right? So they were the really hardcore, addicted drinkers and probably skewed the study in that way as well.
