anyone on here actually know someone who the SM worked to the end?

Yes, we have potato on here. Remember, this MB is less than 3 months old - and the process takes 4-6 months. The process is new to the US, UK, and much of the world. Most success stories are out of Finland or third world countries. Well-documented via Drs. Sinclair/Eskapa. . .but those folks aren't available here as real-life models. (Many speak other languages, etc.)

My advice for now is to trust the extensive documentation, read and re-read Dr. Eskapa's book, and keep on here where you can get all the encouragement and support you need to 'go the distance.'

Yes - and it's it exciting to think your story is going to be the inspiration someone else one day needs to take the plunge? This is a group of true pioneers!

Awesome stuff! I can't imagine that these companies won't jump at the chance to market an OTC remedy for alcoholism. Perhaps Dr. Eskapa's book could be part of the marketing effort - it would only make sense. N101CS, you might want to work w/Robert as he contacts these companies - they are potentially big sponsors for this site. They might be, even now - with an ad that says, in effect: "Talk to your doctor about the benefits of Naltrexone. . ."

Just look at it from a pharmaceutical CEO's perspective: an inexpensive-to-produce, safe drug that can be marketed to (approx.) 10% of people over the age of (15? 16?) for the treatment/prevention of alcohol/opiod abuse. AND. (Think of this.) IT HAS TO BE PURCHASED REPEATEDLY, FOR A MINIMUM NUMBER OF MONTHS. . .AND OFTENTIMES FOR A LIFETIME.

Hello???!!!! Is there a motivator here, or what? (Marketing is a major portion of my livelihood. . . can ya tell?)

Now gee how do I find a way to financially benefit from all of this. . . :D

Goin4More ;

what are your mental and physical states when you drink?

what is your choice of poison?

Well, before TSM I would generally drink 10-14 drinks per night - always and only dry wine. About the time I hit 10 units, I would either get weepy, or else get on a mission to 'fix' someone. (Yuk!) Dry reds hit me hardest, and I generally get weepy and dramatic very quickly on them. Blackouts - or at least 'vague outs,' were the norm.

In the past few weeks I drink 8-10 units, max, per night. My state of mind is much more clear, and I have not had a blackout since starting. I also can choose to quit drinking b/4 the bottle is empty - unheard of, pre-Sinclair.

Pretty promising, as I'm at best half way thru the program. Results often only begin to manifest at 8-10 weeks.

Hang in there! As CSNY sing: "What a looong, strange trip it's been!"

Let's hope that naltrexone - or nalmefene - becomes an OTC (Over the Counter) medication in the future. How could this be accomplished? Anyone?

This would be the domain of the FDA, and that's a political mess. I think that a reasonable place to start would be to examine the struggle to get Zantac OTC. I think that COMBINE demonstrated its efficacy, and it sure seems to meet the safety and non-addictive requirements. I'll see what I can dig up.

Thanks, RR. What other drugs have gone OTC in the last decade? I'm going to go google around. . .

Prilosec OTC
