Hi folks. My wife is going through treatment via The Sinclair Method, and I am totally thrilled with her progress. Finally - a treatment method that makes sense! I have seen dramatic improvement in her level of cravings and frequency of drinking. I'm getting my wife back!

One problem has been with educating my wife's GP. I gave him a copy of the book but he hasn't read it yet. I'm very glad he prescribed naltrexone for her, but he has been giving my wife medical direction that is contrary to the Sinclair Method. My wife is sticking to TSM but feels that she would like a doctor that actively supports the method.

Does anyone know of a doctor in the Albuquerque, NM area that embraces The Sinclair Method? Thanks much!

sorry, as I live in Canada I can't help - many here have the same problems. My doctor prescribed Nal for me against his better judgement, and I had to lie to him and tell him I was not drinking. I then placed an order from River. If I'm successful getting that order through the border I'll go back to the doctor for a monthly supply, and keep River in the background for the long haul. I intend to educate my doctor as I progress to a cure. Better to show him a happy result than to try to buck all his training and prejudice. Your wife is very blessed to have you as a loving and supportive husband. God bless you, and good luck to her. :D

The important thing is getting the prescription. Eskapa's book, in the chapter for MD's sets out the package insert with rebuttal and other comments. Most docs know of naltrexone only as an anti-craving med, even though it's not effective that way. So, many here just tell their doctor "it's working", without going into detail, to keep getting the rx. Some MD's have proven teachable, although it is tough for many to get their heads around a treatment that requires continued drinking.

Here's a link to information some members have found useful in finding a doc. The link was suggested by Dr. Eskapa. You'll find an explanation and another link to click on to find a list of addiction docs in your area.

Kudos for supporting your spouse and please let us know how things are going.
