This is a doctor that writes these prescriptions daily, but likely never for alcohol. I called first to make sure alcohol is OK and made an appointment for a week later. Naltrexone 50 mg script was written "take 1 tablet by mouth every day for alcohol dependence," just like FDA approved. Why my regular doctor did not, we don't know. Good deal too, $70 visit $35 meds, week wait and legit prescription bottle. I'd hate to battle out a false positive for opiates either directly from the pill or my urine given the similar structure of opiates and the medicine, I didn't want to risk it. Visit again in 30 days to report.

The only thing to watch out with Dr. Sherman is once you ask for help, he wants to see you through to the end. At the follow up, told him I missed the beer buzz and told him so, but he argued, reminding me of my initial plea for help, that I should remain on naltrexone citing the success of his other patients. God bless doctors that care! Especially one that understands addiction. I know he's right about my treatment, but I'm just not yet fully immersed in an anti-drug environment and fear loosing life enjoyment if my beer buzz is taken away. After he poked around my liver he did somewhat agree I'm in no medical danger getting a daily alcohol buzz.
