My initial prescription came from Professor Chick (who I also recommend) - however, I just received one from Dr. Sheila Woods at the Bradford Community Drug and Alcohol Team who uses Naltrexone regularly so perhaps the NHS is starting to catch up. My initial appointment was some 3 weeks after referral from GP, fwiw.

I like Katie have obtained Naltrexone via the NHS. Initially like her I had a private prescription from Dr Chick, which never cost me more than £35 for 28 tablets (in fact it once came to only around £27!!!), appears to depend upon the prices that day.

Usually it is the drug and alcohol team that use Naltrexone in my area, then mostly for drug use. I had to agree to see the alcohol team, who then said I had no need to be under their care and therefore they could not prescribe. They did however write to my GP heavily recommending that she did prescribe to me - which she now does and I'm paying the standard NHS prescription fee of £7.40 on a montly basis.

So it is available if you do and say the right things.
