I have been in Lexington, KY and met two remarkable physicians who are familiar with the Sinclair Method.

Dr Stephen Cox is is a psychiatrist with great wisdom and experience. His office telephone number is 859 269 6648 and email: drcox@insightbb.com

Dr Jim Roach practices Integrative Medicine; His office number is 859 846 4445 and email: jproach@aol.com <jproach@aol.com>

I have enormous respect for these very human, caring, and astute doctors and recommend them highly for those who need the Sinclair Method and naltrexone done correctly.

Roy Eskapa, PhD

Hope fully I will have more contacts coming up in New York City.

Are these MD's or PhD's?
My guess is that they would have to be MD's, otherwise they couldn't prescribe Naltrexone.

MDs -

psychiatrist = M.D. or D.O.

Practicing "Integrative Medicine" would also take an M.D. or D.O.

My mom is very interested in trying the Sinclair Method and has been trying to find a doctor here (in Ohio) to help her but has not had any luck. As she is not very internet savvy, she asked me to help her in her search. Since Lexington isn't that far, I gave her the numbers above.

The call to Dr Cox went to his home. Whoops! The number to his office, for those that are interested, is 859-272-0991. But he was out of the office, so she's going to try him again tomorrow.

She then called Dr Roach, who's receptionist had no idea what she was talking about. Eventually the girl went to ask the doctor who said that he just spoke with someone about it recently but hasn't started offering the treatment as of yet, and to try back in about a month.

Just thought I'd offer up that bit of info. If anybody has any advice, it would be welcome! Thanks!

If it doesn't pan out try this resource:

A while ago Dr. Eskapa suggested that we consider posting this link to a resource for doctors who are qualified to prescribe suboxone, a drug used to treat opiate addicts. Suboxone has properties similar to naltrexone, so perhaps these doctors, familiar with suboxone, will grasp TSM more easily than other MD's and therefore be willing to prescribe it. At least they will be more easy to educate about TSM. There remains that pesky warning about liver function in the prescribing info, but MD's should understand this was based on a single study in which subjects were administered 300 mg nal -- six times the 50mg for TSM protocol.

I notice an uptick in posts re: finding an MD, so I decided to go ahead and post it. No guarantees, but it's another resource.

Good luck! And if it still doesn't work out with the doctors, make sure to come back here...there are other ways.

Thanks so much for the info! Luckily she got in touch with Dr. Cox's office today and might have finally found her doctor! She spoke with the receptionist, who knew immediately what she was talking about and said that Dr. Cox was indeed familiar with TSM and was very excited about treating patients using it. He even went to the UK recently and met with both Dr. Eskapa and Dr. Sinclair. She's waiting to hear back from them about a date for her first appointment, but so far it sounds promising.
Thanks again!

Be advised that Dr. Cox charges $350 for the initial 1 hour consultation and $150 per 20 minute followups and does not handle insurance claims but leaves it to the patient to submit claims. Ouch!

After I learned this from his secretary (I had to call a third time after a week because of no call back from my original voice mail to him)

Hey, I'm just looking for a MD/DO/Shaman to write me a script for 50mg Nal to whom I don't have to lie to about how I'm going to use it. :)

I then called and made an appointment with Dr. Roach. There is a 6 week wait before my appointment and when asked why I wanted to see Dr. Roach, the receptionist did not bat a figurative eye when I told her that I needed to be treated for alcoholism with Naltrexone, specifically using tSM. They also take my insurance ($25 - $35 per visit). I'll update here on my experience with Dr. Roach next month.

You should call back and ask specifically if Dr. Roach is aware of TSM and will prescribe naltrexone in accord with the method. It's too risky to wast another six weeks in case he doesn't.

I just called his office and his receptionist had no clue what TSM was and didn't know if Dr. Roach even prescribed naltrexone. She recommended I email him.

It was Dr. Eskapa himself who posted here to recommend Dr. Cox and Dr. Roach, so we can safely assume both doctors are familiar with TSM.
