The important thing is getting the prescription. Eskapa's book, in the chapter for MD's sets out the package insert with rebuttal and other comments. Most docs know of naltrexone only as an anti-craving med, even though it's not effective that way. So, many here just tell their doctor "it's working", without going into detail, to keep getting the rx. Some MD's have proven teachable, although it is tough for many to get their heads around a treatment that
requires continued drinking.
