Curious one...please keep us posted. I know when we approached my husband's doctor about Naltrexone we never mentioned TSM...sad when you have to lie to your doctor to get medication...but this guy is a real arrogant piece of work. I went with my husband because I am a nurse as well as a paralegal and I can research and argue my point as well as any doctor. His doctor was saying no at first and I kept on going...siting the medical insert and the FDA approval for Nal for Alcoholism and that if it has been around for over 40 years and approved for treatment of alcoholism to reduce cravings...who is he to say no? Why not try it and see if it works, what can it hurt? He eventually gave in and then asked me how I found out about Nal and I told him that I researched for days online trying to see how to help my husband and save my family and I ran across this medication. So he reluctantly gave us a 3 month prescripton and so here we are 3 weeks in and my husband fianlly has a glimmer of hope to get off this roller coaster ride from hell.

So I will pray for you (along with everyone else on this board ;0) and please let us know how it goes.

Lynn

There isn't a single member on this board -- or dare I say alcoholic period -- who does not have substantial mental health issues. I think it's safe to say that mental health issues drive every alcoholic to drink too much in the first place. But the notion that alcoholism is irrevocably intertwined with mental health issues is FALSE. I am still a neurotic. But now I'm a neurotic WHO DOESN'T DRINK 20 DRINKS IN ONE NIGHT thanks to TSM. These so-called professionals make me want to scream. It's mind-boggling to me how little they know about the realities of alcoholism.

Amen. Brother!!!

I want to update this: I have exchanged many emails with the head of dept. he seems genuinely interested in TSM, I have given him every piece of information I know of as well as giving my own experience and I have given him Dr. Sinclair's address in Finland. He asked to meet me and told me to book an appointment at the hospital with his secretary. I have tried twice but can't get passed the gate keeper who wants my name and address and social security number, I want to keep my anonymity so this is going to be a problem.

It makes me SO angry that even medical professionals- intelligent, well educated people, who have studied for years are still brainwashed by AA's bullshit. When is that god awful cult going to be put out of business??!!
